Worship
John 4: 23-24 “. 23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
True worship isn’t found on a stage or in an auditorium or even a sanctuary. It isn’t just song or dance or raising your hands.
James 1:21-25 “21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.
To come into a place with the body of Christ to worship God with song and musical praise is beautiful, but that worship means nothing if we walk out from that setting and do not worship God continuously through our actions. We hear the Word of God and we do not just simply hear. We also DO. The Word of God is truth and it is alive in us and in everything that we do and in everything that comes our way, we must hold fast to that truth and walk out that living Word. True worship is a lifestyle. Who are we if we go into communion with the Body and worship God in song and musical praise, but then do not live out what we has been given to us? When we don’t worship God in spirit and in truth in everyday life…all that music and verbal praise and the lifting of hands and dancing is just a show.
It’s no wonder why the issue of homosexuality is taken so personal…
1 Corinthians 6:15-20 says-“ Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
All other sin is outside of the body, but sexual immorality is done against your own flesh. Homosexuality is immoral. People who argue for homosexuality in regards to judgment from Christians like to say that homosexuality isn’t any worse than any other sin, except that when it is said that way, it is meant to mean that it isn’t different than something like stealing a candy bar from the store. However, if we are to say that, then being a homosexual is no worse or less worse than being a murderer or a rapist. Sin is sin and that is so true. Do we as followers of Christ lay it on thick when it comes to homosexuality? Yes. Do we judge that sin more so than most other sins? I would say, Yes. That is a mistake we make all too often. We are not to judge and be hateful. Homosexuality isn’t the most horrid sin to be committed. I will give you that much…except that homosexuality is a type of sexual immorality. A perversion of His sovereign will. His plan does not include the homosexual lifestyle. It does not include the sexually immoral lifestyle and all type thereof. And 1 Corinthians says that sexual sin is a sin that is done against the body. All other sin is outside the body, but sexual sin is done against the body, so while sin is sin and none is greater than the other…sexual sin is different in that against the body. It’s personal. It’s specific.
So it’s no wonder that homosexuality is an issue that is taken so personally in both the world and the body. It’s a sin that attacks the very core of who we are as God’s creation and His workmanship. It’s a twist and a perversion and because it is a sin that is against the own body, you can see the fruits of that sin in the way that a person struggling with that sin sees the Word of God in a twisted and perverted way. But how can we be in agreement with some of the Word of God and not all? How can we ignore the fullness of the truth of His Word?
We can’t.
The Word says it’s a sin that personally attacks the body itself.
1 Corinthians 6:9 and 10 says-“ 9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
We cannot take some of the Word of God and not the rest. No matter how personal it gets. No one who practices homosexuality will inherit the Kingdom of God. Not one. Not only does the Word say that it is a sin done against the body itself, but if you practice it, you will not see an eternity with the Father.
This is not judgmental. It isn’t hate. This is the Word of God. Plain and simple. Do we bash homosexuality and judge those who engage in it? No, but the Word of God is clear.
TOP 10 THINGS I CAN’T DO ANYMORE BECAUSE MY DOG IS DEAD:
10: Talk to it about my various issues because I know it will always listen.
9: Save on dog food because I can give it my table scraps. (well now I don’t have to buy dog food period)
8: Pretend that I ate all the food that was on my plate. (now I have to eat everything)
7: Frisbee. (it never played with me anyways, but now it will NEVER be a possibility)
6: Walk it.
5: Pass gas and then blame it on the dog. (time to be a complete adult and take responsibility for EVERYTHING)
4: Test whether something is safe to eat. (if the dog didn’t eat it, you can count me out)
3: Take the dog to an actual dog park to make actual dog friends instead of sitting in the backyard and talking to it about my various issues.
2: Shave it’s shaggy hair to make it look like a little lion. (Not that I’ve ever done this and that it would also incorporate bleaching it’s hair to match that of a lion’s mane…but now we’ll never know what it would have looked like)
1:

I really did love my dog.
Stinks…
So…my 12 year old dog, Rosie, died today. My brother-in-law found her while I was at church. An hour and a half earlier she was playing and jumping around. I’ve had her since 4th grade. Stinks.
I mean, yeah, it’s an animal…it’s not like if my dad died, but she was a good dog and it stinks…
A church is not a building, it’s the people.
This is Africa, our Africa
Love doesn’t boast. And it certainly doesn’t get suspended and lift man up as a savior.
I just threw up in my mouth a little.
